Each student will need to pay for his own dinner on Saturdays, which will usually be some sort of fast food or a cookout. The Freshman Study Club is for students in their freshman year of high school looking for an atmosphere of intense study and an opportunity to spend time with friends. As a participant, you will get to work with Club staff who will help you set and pursue individualized goals. The afternoon includes a short time for leisure reading, a challenging group activity, sports, dinner, and a brief period of prayer. Speakers are chosen based on their experience or expertise in one parenting sphere or another, and the topics are intended to be relevant to the practical difficulties parents are facing in our present. Club Anvil is a club for 6th, 7th and 8th grade boys. Every Saturday there will be an activity for ALL interested high school students from 4-8pm. The Parent Speaker Series is organized by the staff at Westcott to help guide parents through the difficult journey of raising their children. Throughout the school year on Saturday afternoons, there will be many other great high school activities at Westcott, including sports competitions, movie screenings and discussions, days of recollection, excursions to Galveston or Lake Livingston, and visiting the homeless. While signing up for the program does not require students to attend every seminar or study night, the cost of the registration includes the entire program, and the more often students are able to attend the various activities, the more they will benefit! Although The Grade seminars do not begin until September, our first study night is Tuesday, August 24th for Freshmen and Sophomores, and Wednesday, August 25th for Juniors and Seniors. The Fatherhood Lecture Series brings several professional speakers to Westcott over the course of a few months to talk about the various aspects of being a good father and husband. Freshman & Sophomore Grade Seminars and Study Nights meet on Tuesdays, and Junior & Senior Grade Seminars and Study Nights meet on Wednesdays. The Grade seminars are part of the larger Grade program that offers weekly study nights as well throughout the year at Westcott Study Center.
